Homoeopathic substances, or more correctly Homoeopathic Medicines, are potentized remedies for the treatment of specific physical and/or mental states. According to Classical Homoeopathic Philosophy, Homoeopathic Medicines should only be prescribed for a patient by a Qualified Classical Homoeopath after careful case-taking and much consideration. Indeed, some categories of Homoeopathics (i.e. Nosodes) are prepared from toxic substances and should only ever be prescribed by a Qualified HealthCare Professional such as a Homoeopath or Naturopath after much careful consideration and deliberation about the suitability of that particular Medicine to a particular patient under their direct care.

It should be noted that the, so called, homoeopathic preparations available from pharmacies and some larger supermarkets, are not true Classical Homoeopathic remedies, but are more correctly termed ‘complexes’. These complexes contain a number of related remedies which may or may not be helpful in treating the presenting compliant.

Dr Edward Bach was a Medical Doctor, Bacteriologist and Homoeopath who practiced on London’s prestigious Harley Street in the 1920’s. He became disenchanted with the external, prescriptive approach of these forms of treatment, believing instead that true healing can only occur from within the individual.

Bach agreed with Hahnemann who suggested that “all healing that is not from within, is harmful, and apparent cure of the body obtained through materialistic methods, obtained only through the action of others, without self-help, may certainly bring physical relief, but harm our Higher Natures, for the lesson has remained unlearnt, and the fault has not been eradicated” (Bach, 1978, p.111). However, Bach opposed Hahnemann’s teaching of “like cures like” arguing that it was wrong to apply a poison to eradicate a disease. Speaking theologically, he suggested that only by right replacing wrong, and light replacing darkness, could disease be eliminated.

Bach, understood the manifestation of physical and/or mental dis-ease as a natural consequence of disharmony between our body and our soul. Bach suggested that true cure may be offered by flower essences “which flood our bodies with beautiful vibrations of nature” and promote our own Higher Nature (Bach, 1978, p.117).

The Bach Flower remedies are traditionally made from fresh picked flowers placed in rainwater and infused with sunlight until the vibration or essence of the flower is imprinted onto the water molecules. This Mother tincture is then preserved with brandy, vinegar or vegetable glycerine. This method has been adapted by others to create over 4000 essences available today.

Flower, shell and gem essences are Vibrational Essences, meaning they contain the vibration or essence imprint of that aspect of Nature. Vibrational Essences are created in the method of Dr Edward Bach, and as aspects of Mother Nature, they act to bring the beautiful vibrations of Nature into our own Higher Nature.

Vibrational Essences are extremely safe and user-friendly for people of all ages, from babies to the elderly. One dose equals one dose, which means that the essences are self limiting in their effect, and unlike some homoeopathic remedies, will not cause exacerbations.

Vibrational Essences are particularly suited to use with emotional patterns that need healing. In combination with essential oils they are also very helpful in addressing problems in the physical body. Vibrational Essences maybe taken as drops under the tongue (sublingually) as Pilliules (most suitable for children) or applied topically as a cream.
